About Us

Overview –  We are among the UK’s busiest and most successful foundation trusts, with a long history of clinical excellence and high quality care.

Our Trust is made up of two of London’s best known teaching hospitals – St Thomas’ Hospital and Guy’s Hospital – and London’s two specialist heart and lung hospitals.

At Guy’s Hospital for Cancer – They are one of the UK’s leading providers of care and treatment for people with cancer.

They are home to some of the best specialists in the country and offer the very latest facilities and pioneering treatments, thanks to our extensive research programmes.

They have a new, state of the art Cancer Centre at Guys Hospital that brings most of their services under one roof, helping to give patients seamless care. The Cancer Centre offers a welcoming, uplifting environment, designed with patients at its heart.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is an internationally renowned healthcare organisation with expertise across the full range of medical care. If you need surgery, diabetes treatment or psychological support, they have specialists right here, on site, who can work as part of your cancer team. For you, that means joined-up care, all in one place, for an all-round better experience of healthcare.

Innovations include locating the radiotherapy suites above ground level, so that the waiting area can be flooded with natural light, and different sized chemotherapy treatment areas to allow patients to choose from a large communal space or a more intimate and private space.

At Guy’s Cancer, they understand that cancer can affect you and your loved ones in many ways.

Their experts will assess your medical needs and provide a package of care that works for you. They will also explore how cancer may affect your emotional, social and family life too.

To support you through cancer and beyond, their teams can offer psychological and emotional support. We also offer you and your carer high quality complementary treatments such as massage and counselling through their partner charity Dimbleby Cancer Care.

Treatments – As a patient at Guy’s Cancer, you will have most of your treatment at the new Cancer Centre. The Cancer Centre has been designed to ensure that your care  is as smooth and well-coordinated as possible.

There may be times when you need to have treatment at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (one of our partners) or another specialist cancer hospital that we work with.

They tailor all your care to your personal needs and the type of cancer that you have and will discuss your personalised care plan with you and make sure that you understand the treatment options available.

As part of your care, you may have treatments including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, or drug or biological therapies, or a combination of these options.

Some people find treatment a difficult experience. Challenges can include managing pain, fatigue, and feelings of helplessness. They offer emotional, psychological and practical support, including groups and one-to-one sessions, to help you manage these issues.

And they will discuss your emotional, psychological and practical needs with you, to ensure that these form part of your personalised care plan.
