Knee Replacement

Knee replacement surgery is the most common joint replacement procedure. Clients can choose to have one (single) or both (double) knees replaced at the same time. Knee replacement surgery is a procedure that is performed when the knee joint has reached a point when painful symptoms can no longer be controlled with non-operative treatments. In a knee replacement procedure, your surgeon removes the damaged joint surface and replaces it with a metal and plastic implant. When a knee replacement is performed, the bone and cartilage on the end of the thigh bone (femur) and top of the shin bone (tibia) are removed. This is performed using precise instruments to create surfaces that can accommodate the implant perfectly. A metal and plastic knee replacement implant is then placed in to function as a new knee joint. Depending on the condition of the cartilage underneath the kneecap, the kneecap surface may also be replaced. Surgery can take up to three (3)  hours with two to three nights in the hospital.  Expected recovery time is 10 (single)-15 (double) days, with the average longer term full recovery from 6 -12 weeks.

Hip Replacement Surgery

Clients can choose to have one (single) or both (double) hips replaced at the same time. Hip replacement surgery involves replacing the head of the femoral bone - the "ball" of your thighbone with a metal ball. The metal ball attaches to a metal post that fits into your thighbone. A plastic and metal socket is implanted into your pelvic bone to replace the damaged socket. The prosthetics, which look and act like the natural design of your hip, fit together and function like a normal hip joint. Artificial hip joints come in many designs. Generally, your surgeon decides which hip joint is the best for you. The different products used in making the prostheses include a combination of durable long wearing, wear-resistant plastic and metals, including stainless steel and titanium. Implants are biocompatible - meaning they're designed to be accepted by your body - and they're made to resist corrosion, degradation and wear.

Shoulder Joint Replacement Surgery

Shoulder joint replacement surgery is performed to replace a shoulder joint with artificial components (prostheses) when the joint is severely damaged by such degenerative joint diseases as arthritis, or in complex cases of upper arm bone fracture. Shoulder joint replacement surgery can either replace the entire AC joint, in which case it is referred to as total shoulder joint replacement or total shoulder arthroplasty ; or replace only the head of the humerus, in which case the procedure is called a hemiarthroplasty.

Rotator Cuff Repair

Rotator cuff repair is a type of surgery to fix a torn tendon in the shoulder. The procedure can be done with a large ("open") incision or with shoulder arthroscopy, which uses small button-hole sized incisions. The recovery can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months, depending on the size of the tear and other factors. You may have to wear a sling for 1 to 6 weeks after surgery. Pain is usually managed with medications. When you can return to work or play sports will depend on the surgery that was performed, but it will usually take several months to resume your regular activities. Physical therapy may help you to regain the motion and strength of your shoulder. The length of therapy will depend on the repair that was performed.

ACL Repair

ACL repair is surgery to replace the ligament in the center of your knee with a new ligament. The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) keeps your shin bone (tibia) in place. A tear of this ligament can cause your knee to give way during physical activity.
