What is cryoablation treatment?
Cryoablation treatment is the process of using extreme cold to freeze and destroy diseased tissue such as cancer cells.
How cryoablation treatment works
During cryoablation, a thin needle definitively known as a cryoprobe is inserted through your skin and directly into the cancerous tumor. A gas is then pumped through the cryoprobe which freezes the tissue and allows it to thaw. The freezing and thawing process is then repeated several times during each treatment session.
Cryoablation treatment specifically for breast cancer.
Cryoablation has been documented to work efficiently for various breast cancer stages and if the cancer is at the metastatic state. Each cancer type is be examined before confirmation of the effectiveness of the cryosurgery. A pathological examination is offered for patients if requested before treatment however a two night stay at the hospital is required.
